| NOMEX® Back to the Materials Group main page. NOMEX®, developed by DuPont for applications requiring dimensional stability and excellent heat resistance, is available in fibre form (continuous filament and staple) and sheet form (paper and pressboard). NOMEX® products are used in protective apparel, hot gas filtration, and automotive hoses, electrical insulation, aircraft parts, and sporting goods. Fibres of NOMEX® consist of long rigid molecular chains produced from poly-metaphenylene diamine. NOMEX® does not flow or melt upon heating. Decomposition and charring does not proceed at a significant rate until well over 350° C - without melting. NOMEX® is both chemically and thermally very stable. General Features: Heat and Flame Resistant
Low Elongation to Break High Ultraviolet Resistance
Low Electrical Conductivity High Chemical Resistance
Excellent Dimensional Stability Low Thermal Shrinkage
Excellent Hydrolysis Resistance
Formable for Molded Parts High Abrasion and Wear Resistance
