What Can Iten Industries Thermoplastics Department Do For You?
- Thermoplastic materials: When heated, thermoplastics are capable of softening, flowing, and forming (hardening) when cooled. They can be reprocessed through the same process a number of times.
- Thermoset materials: Thermoset materials go through a chemical change when processed. They are heated, flow into the mold, and then hardened. The process is irreversible.
Closed loop controls:
Closing the Loop
- Systems that utilize feedback are called closed-loop control systems. The feedback is used to make decisions about changes to the control signal that drives the machine. An open-loop control system doesn't have or doesn't use feedback.
- Commodity plastic materials: Thermoplastics that have lower performance values and lower costs as compared to the engineered thermoplastics that offer higher performance in some properties such as heat resistance and flammability. Examples of the commodity family of polymer materials are polyethylene, polypropylene, styrene, etc.
- Injection Compression: A molding process where the shot size of material is controlled by the machine. The material is injected into the cavity before the mold is fully closed. After injection, the mold closes to its final position. The benefits of this process are products with low warpage, minimal scrap, and shorter cycle times.
