What Can Iten Industries Tooling Department Do For You?

Iten’s part fabricating facilities are enhanced by a diversified team of design engineers, journeymen toolmakers and support personnel with over 260 years of combined experience in the making and repair of tooling, fixtures and secondary machines.

Our 8,000 sq. ft. tooling and machining facility has state of the art CNC machining centers for high speed and close tolerance machining. This facility is complimented by our CNC EDM and CNC wire EDM capabilities. These capabilities allow our team to machine various types of materials, including hardened tool steels. Our in-house precision form grinding, heat treating and hard chroming allows our team to produce quick turn around, top quality tooling from start to finish.

Iten’s technical support team is enhanced by a state of the art CAD-CAM system to help provide you with material selection, part design and product development. We sponsor a state approved apprenticeship program with the local vocational school, and work with the local college for training and support.

Iten’s vertically integrated toolroom supported by our experienced team of toolmakers lowers tooling repair costs and reduces downtime due to tooling repairs. Our total ownership approach also provides you the ease of mind in knowing you can address your tooling needs through one contact.

CNC MACHINING

Iten’s tool room has five CNC Bostomatic machining centers with a wide range in table size, horsepower and spindle RPM’S. These machines are capable of holding tight tolerances for machining of cores, cavities etc. The Bostomatics can be programmed on the floor or by the CAM in the engineering department.

Tool Crib

Iten’s tool room has the support of a 1,800 square ft. tool crib. This tool crib is stocked with the standard nuts, bolts, drills end mills, etc. Also we have many components for all of the different fabricating disciplines that the Toolroom supports mold base components, die sets etc. , and many different parts for repair of these tools. The tool crib has its own cutter grinder for making special cutters and for the regrinding and sharpening of these tools. We also stock many different tool steels. The tool crib is a big help in the quick turnaround of new tools and repair work.

WIRE EDM

Iten’s tool room has two wire EDM machines, these machines allow us to cut through harden tool steels. These machines hold very tight tolerances and can cut about any shape need for our die steaming tools. The wires leave and good surface finish on cores and cavities that cut down the polish time. The wires are controlled through PC-DNC directory from our cam system in the engineering department.
